Vive La France July 2015 Glossybox UK Review

When I think of French style and beauty, brands and fashion houses such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Nuxe, Vichy, Lancome and Decleor  immediately come to mind along with style icons such as Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin, Audrey Tatou and of course Coco Chanel herself. So many of us ladies aspire to the beauty, style and poise of our French counterparts, doing our best to imitate the kind of woman you see strutting down the Champs Elysees or sipping a coffee at a bistro overlooking the promenade at Cannes. This month, Glossybox catered to our aspirations a little by providing a once off box containing a number of cult French skincare products for us to try. I for one was excited to try these as I’m already a huge fan of anything Vichy and I had heard that there might be something from this brand in here. Who knows I might be able to create my own "je ne sais quoi" a little..

Normally the boxes are the standard pale pink but it's nice to see something different as they do now and then with special collaborations/editions and this one was designed by a well known fashion illustrator Jamie Lee Reardin.  As an aside - these boxes are great to reuse as either drawer organisers, desk organisers or gift boxes. If you search around online you will also see how lots of people often create storage drawer towers out of them and such. Me, I'm not such a crafty Blue Peter type but I use one on my desk in work to hold things like staplers and paper clips and  calculators and things that generally clutter up my desk. I also have one in DS's chest of drawers to hold all his little socks which tend to end up  everywhere otherwise. Then I use some in my "unmentionables" drawers to separate different items. They're also good for keeping all your nail polishes in one place. In general as you can see I use these to organise my general clutter due to my hoarding tendencies..

Anyways, back to this month's box and what was in it!

Apparently worth over £52, this box is said to include the best of French skincare products.

The first item was what is referred to as a "lifestyle item " - a clear plastic zipped bag/pouch with a similar design as the box itself which you can see in the pic above. This would make a handy make up bag for carrying in a handbag I think, although I'm dubious about calling this one of the five products and not having it as a bonus item but there you go..

Next up was Lollipops Lip Balm Delicieuse.

This is meant to be a rich and creamy lip balm to soothe and soften with antioxidants and Vitamin E. This feels quite oily to me but I'll pop it in the handbag and give it a go.

Next up was Noxidoxi Enhancing Serum Base.

According to the description card, this "hydrates the skin's surface as well as the deeper layers, while a cocktail of antioxidants and anti-inflammatories protect the skin". This feels quite runny in consistency to me unlike some other serums I've tried but it has a nice, light scent and can't hurt to try eh..

The fourth item was Teoxane Cosmeceuticals Perfect Skin Refiner.

Ooh I like the sound of this one. It contains hyaluronic acid and glycolic acid to plump, hydrate and resurface the skin. Definitely going to give this one a go! Directions are to apply at night (every second night) to cleansed skin.

Last up are two mini samples of Vichy Liftactiv Advanced Filler.

I have received some Vichy samples in a Glossybox before of the Idealia range and I was seriously impressed by them and would definitely repurchase the full size versions at some point. This one contains retinol which according to the description card is a "wonder ingredient that perfects your complexion while banishing signs of ageing". I am a Mammy so I'm all too familiar with the signs of ageing so let's see if it's true.. However they don't tell us how to use this product i.e. Slap it on all over or dab on the wrinkles you want to banish. So I may have to do some further research first before trying it out!

That's everything that was in this month's box. A mixed bag overall- some I'm interested in and some equally not fussed about but that's the luck of the draw with subscription boxes!

Did any of you receive this Glossybox as well? If so let me know your thought too :)

Bye for now,
C xxx
