Glossybox UK for Nars Limited Edition box review

Sometimes I think I must be a marketer's dream. The idea of Glossybox gets me all a flutter every month, wondering what “surprises” I’m going to receive and what new beauty must haves I might discover. Then they announce Limited Edition boxes and I rush to sign myself up to be notified of pre-sale. Like a One Direction fan looking for concert tickets, I’m all over it as soon as the launch date and time comes and congratulate myself if I manage to bag one.

I signed up for the Limited Edition collaboration between Glossybox and Nars, which promised 5 cult Nars products and I particularly had my eye on the blusher and the multiple stick and was keen to try these.

Well the sleek matte black box arrived yesterday morning and I have to say I have mixed emotions about it after the all the hype.

Inside were the mini Blush in the shade Orgasm, the mini Multiple also in the shade Orgasm, the Satin Lip pencil in the shade Rikugien, the Larger than Life Eyeliner Pencil in black and the Audacious Mascara in black.

The lip pencil unfortunately is the same shade as was in the Harvey Nicholls Limited Edition box last year so this is already in my collection. It is a nice rosy shade though so I may pass it onto someone else who will make use of it.

The blusher indeed is a lovely shade like so many beauty experts advised- but it is remarkably similar to the blush shade in the Sleek Face Form palette I already own.I had heard rumours before that the Sleek one was a “dupe” for the Nars shade. Perhaps the pigmentation will be better though so I won’t write it off just yet and will compare the two maybe in a future post.

The multiple stick is really pretty and shimmery and  can be used on cheeks, lips and eyes for a bit of shimmer and colour. I’ve never been much good with cream blushers but it will also make a really nice lip colour.

I’m always trying to find "the one" in terms of mascara so I will be checking this mascara out soon - it looks like a good wand on it, almost rubbery.

I'm impressed with the eyeliner. It is a lovely creamy texture and meant to be very long wearing- they claim 12 hours! I did try a sweep on my hand and it's rather hard to rub off so they may have something there with that claim! It also doesn't need sharpening which is a bonus- instead it's one of those retractable types.
All in all, the contents are lovely and a good way to try out a more high-end brand before you buy, however I was disappointed for one reason. The monthly boxes quite often contain sample or travel size products and this is made quite transparent to the subscriber. They do however include at least one full size item in each box which makes you feel like you are getting more bang for your buck. However, with this box I am quite miffed that all the items have “sample- not for sale” on their packaging and yet we subscribers paid a premium price for them? One full size item might have been nice considering the price €48 approximately when converted from GBP. It won’t stop me from subscribing but it will make me think long and hard before jumping in for the limited edition boxes in future.
Did anyone else pick up one of these boxes? Would love to hear your thoughts!
Bye for now,
C x
