October Glossybox UK Review

October Glossybox UK

It's beauty box time of the month again ladies and time to share with you the contents of the October Glossybox UK. I went into a bit more detail on what a Glossybox is in my review of the September box so I won't go into that again. If you like, you can read all about that here.

The October Glossybox was much anticipated, especially in the beauty blogger community, as it was guest edited by Canadian beauty and lifestyle blogger/vlogger Estée Lalonde. It concides with the launch of her new book, Bloom, which is on shelves now. There was also a bit of a buzz created by the fact that there was going to be a mystery product included in the box also.

So, onto the contents in the box which contains 6 products selected by Estée in collaboration with Glossybox. The first product I spotted in the box is from one of my favourite bath and body brands.

Rituals The Ritual of Sakura Magic Touch Body Cream.

Ritual of Sakura Body Cream

I know I've raved about this brand before on the blog and this Ritual of Sakura range smells bloomin amazing like everything else Rituals put their name to. It contains organic rice milk and cherry blossom along with vitamin E to leave skin silky soft. As a brand, Rituals' philosophy is to enrich the little things in life with a hint of luxury and combined with ancient Ayurvedic principles, everything in their bath and body range does just that. I'm so looking forward to using this cream and I know I will end up buying the full sized tub afterwards!

PS..Pro Longwear Lipliner in Ultimate Nude.

PS Pro Longwear Lip Liner Pen

PS Pro Longwear Lipliner pen

In case you weren't already aware, PS Pro is the more "professional" range of makeup that
Primark/Penneys launched earlier this year. I was very impressed by some of the range - especially the base products and the lipsticks - some of which you can read about here and here.

This is a lipliner pen with a felt tip nib like an eyeliner and I'm glad that I received the nude shade as I'm all about the nude lip -which you might have guessed by now! I did pick up one of these liners  but mine may have been a faulty one as it was very dry and not a lot of product came out. This particular one seems to be less dry so I will give it a try. It also seems to be quite longlasting as this swatch on my hand wouldn't even come off with a good rub of a face wipe!

Bee Good Honey & Camelina Facial Exfoliator.

Bee Good Honey and Camelina Exfoliator

This is a facial scrub with lavender. wheatgerm oil, propolis and camelina oil.Propolis is a substance
created by bees in the honey-making process in case you weren't aware, and it's meant to have antioxidant properties and help balance problem skin. This smells fab and feels like it would be
gentle on the skin so I will definitely give it a try.

Trifle Cosmetics Lip Parfait Buttery Lip Cream.

Trifle Cosmetics Lip Parfait

This is a brand I've never heard of but it is meant to be a lipstick with a "creamy matte" finish. I received a nude beige shade which of course I'm happy about. It contains vitamin E also so I'm hoping that it will be a bit more hydrating than some matte lipsticks. I'm interested to see how it wears and how it compares to my other favourite matte nudes. The packaging is cute but the outer tube is made of cardboard so I'm not sure whether it would withstand much throwing about in the handbag. (Which I'm often guilty of). However it will look pretty on the dressing table and if you are less careless than me then you probably won't have a problem.

Universal Beauty Cosmetics Secret Flush Blusher & Lip Stain Duo.

Secret Flush Blush and Lip Stain

Secret Flush Lip and Cheek stain

My initial thoughts on this were a) the packaging is very Benefit-like and b) the colour and texture is very similar to Nars' Multiple Stick in the shade Orgasm which I already own and love.
These multipurpose products are great for when you are either travelling or in a hurry and just want a quick slick of colour. It can be used as a cream blush or as a lip colour. It has a hint of shimmer in it too like the Nars' product so will also give a hint of a glow to the cheeks. In the swatch above I've used one light sweep and then below I've given it a good two or three swipes to show that the colour can be quite subtle or built up to give a more intense colour. This will be going into my "to be tried" soon sample box and I'll let you know probably on Instagram how it goes!

And now for the last product which is a mystery item which Glossybox just named "New Beauty Shampoo".

Glossybox mystery shampoo

They introduced a similar product a few years ago and it was also a shampoo. The idea is that you are tyring out a new hair hero or an updated product from a haircare brand that is already well known on the market. This time, the brand turned out to be Head and Shoulders (the last one was Pantene) and the shampoo has apparently been refomulated to keep hair shiny and healthy as well as eliminate dandruff. Mr. Mamavoom is a Head and Shoulders user and I've often had to rob some of his shampoo when my own has run out so it will be interesting to see if this has improved.

Overall I'm very impressed with this month's box, and as I said recently, Glossybox are really upping their game in recent months. I was close to cancelling my subscription a few months ago but decided to roll with it til the end of the year and I'm glad now that I did. Their customer service has also vastly improved in the past year. I have no affiliation with Glossybox whatsovever but if you are a beauty lover looking for a beauty box to sign up to then I highly recommend this one!

Are you a Glossybox subsrcriber? If so I'd love to hear your thoughts on this month's box!

Bye for now,
