Best of Makeup Revolution

If you've been following me for a while you may have picked up on my love for the UK beauty brand Makeup Revolution. Until quite recently, it had mostly been unheard of here in Ireland - unless you lived near one of the two Superdrug stores in the Republic! But thankfully, it is becoming much more widely available in pharmacies nationwide and online. Recently I attended the official Irish launch of Makeup Revolution with lovely ladies and the brand's ambassadors in Ireland, Matte To Metallic, and looking at the products on display, I found myself recognising a lot of it from my collection already. So I thought I would bring you through what I think are the best bits from the brand, and also from the sister brands I Heart Makeup and Freedom Makeup.

So without further ado, here are my top 10 products.

Radiant Lights Palette.

This palette is a trio of finely milled illuminating powders designed to give a subtle glow to the skin.
They won't give you highlight that can be seen from space - they are designed to give a subtle lit from within look similar to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders. I have nappies to buy and a hangry toddler to feed so I can't justify the spend on Hourglass so when I saw this palette, I knew it had to be mine!
The three powder shades - Breathe, Exhale and Glow are simply gorgeous. They can be swept all over the face after your base and setting powder and will just give a subtle all over shimmer.

The three shades are also sold individually in their own glossy black compacts if there is one in particular that catches your eye. I actually have the middle shade - Exhale - in the single compact as well for travelling or carrying in the handbag for on the go touch-ups. I can't recommend these highly enough if the Hourglass powders are way out of budget for you.

New-trals vs Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette.

This eyeshadow palette featured in one of my previous monthly favourites posts so you might already know that I'm in love with this too! It has a mixture of matte and shimmer shades, from pale gold, bronze and taupe shades to cranberry, rust and chocolate and everything in between. It has all the colours needed for Autumn/Winter looks from a subtle daytime look to a strong, smokey eye for night time.  Makeup Revolution in general do eyeshadows really well and all of the palettes I have tried so far have really good pigmentation and are easy to apply and blend. This one is no exception.

Pro Fix Oil Control Fixing Spray.

This is a lightweight setting spray designed to keep oil at bay and deflect shine for a natural matte finish. It claims to keep that just applied look for up to 12 hours. You need to shake the bottle well, then spray about 8 to 10 inches away from the face. It dries pretty quickly- once you don't overdo it or spray too close to the face. It doesn't make the skin feel tight or sticky like some setting sprays can and I find that my makeup definitely stays in place for longer when I spritz this on in the mornings. It's also great for spritzing on an eyeshadow brush and using this to apply eyeshadow to get a more intensely pigmented look.

I Heart Chocolate Eyeshadow Palette.

Any fans of the famous Chocolate Bar palettes might recognise some of the shades and the packaging inspiration for this one. How pretty is this packaging?! If it doesn't have you reaching for chocolate I don't know what will. This palette contains some of the prettiest light, mid and chocolatey brown shades, with larger pans of matte and shimmery highlight shades too for use on the inner corners of the eye, as all over base shades or to highlight under the brow bone. As with the New trals vs Neutrals palette, the pigmentation is far superior to what you would expect from the price.

I Heart Makeup Blushing Hearts Triple Baked Blusher.

Another inspiration from a higher end brand, these are heart shaped boxes of prettiness containing
two blush shades and a lighter highlighting shade. Mine is in the shade Iced Hearts so it contains a bronze toned blush, a peachy pink one and a champagne coloured highlighter. You can either use each powder separately or swirl them all together and apply to the cheeks instead. It can be quite subtle or built up for a more intense shimmer. The powders are nice and fine and not at all chalky - and again, pigmentation is impressive. And what's not to love about the heart shaped packaging!

Freedom Makeup Brow Pomade.

This has featured in two recent blog posts already so I won't bore you with too much details again! It is a part of my everyday brow routine and nothing else gives the type of cool brown colour that I'm after. It comes in 11 shades to match both cool and warm hair colours and the gel like formula keeps your brows in place all day. If you are a fan of Anastasia's Dip Brow Pomade, then you need to try this! It's half the price, gives the same results and although you get a smaller amount of product in the Freedom one (2.5g vs 4g), it lasts an absolute age and is more than enough product in my opinion. If you would like to read more about how to use this type of product, you can check out my everyday brow routine here.

Freedom Makeup Pro Strobe Palette.

This palette has everything you need to contour, set and highlight your skin. It has 2 matte highlighters - which would also be perfect for setting under eye concealer. It has one shimmer highlighter which I absolutely love. It then has three matte contour shades, from light to dark brown. And the additional bonus is that a contouring brush is included with the kit. It is said to be reminiscent of Kat Von D's contour and highlight palette. However, Kat's palette doesn't include a shimmer powder - hers is all matte. I actually prefer the addition of a shimmer highlighter and let's be honest, we all love a bit of glow, right? I find myself reaching for this palette most days for a quick contouring look, especially when I'm short on time.

Redemption Palette Iconic 3 Eyeshadow Palette.

Makeup Revolution have three Iconic Eyeshadow Palettes - which are inspired by the Naked palettes, and this one is very much in the style of the rose gold toned Naked3. This is a perfect mix of pearl, matte and shimmer shades in gorgeous rose gold, copper and brown shades. Great colour payoff and pigmentation and definitely worth checking out if the Naked palettes are out of your price range. It is also worth noting that the above mentioned New-Trals vs Neutrals Palette has a few very similar shades too if the rose gold tones appeal to you..

Highlight Palette.

If the Radiant Lights powders aren't enough of a highlight for you, then this palette surely is. This palette contains Makeup Revolution's 3 best selling Vivid Baked Highlighters in one palette. These three highlighters can be bought individually for approximately €4 each if again you would prefer to spend less or feel that you wouldn't use all three.

It contains a beautiful pale gold highlighter - Golden Lights,  a light peachy highlighter - Peach Lights and Pink Lights- a pale pinky-lilac shade.

These give a gorgeous shimmer without being glittery and are just beautiful shades. Like the Radiant Lights, they look and feel so much higher end than they actually are. Love.

Fortune Favours The Brave Eyeshadow Palette.

I know, another eyeshadow palette. But in fairness I couldn't not put this into a best picks post. This palette was a collaboration with Jane from British Beauty Blogger. It contains 30 eyeshadows, in a combination of pressed and baked powders, and has such an impressive shade range from ivory to black and everything in between. There are so many eye looks that could be created from just this one palette. My only criticism is that the pans are quite small - about the size of my thumb print - but given the price and shade range this is probably the only way they could fit it all in! The purples and khakis are some of my favourites. Again, great pigmentation and the shadows are as blend-able as their other eyeshadow palettes that I've tried.

As you can probably tell by now, there are two main things that Makeup Revolution, Freedom Makeup and I Heart Makeup do really well - powder products and dupes. There wasn't enough time or space to fill you in on the rest of the range that I have but these would be the ones that I would recommend the most.

So where can you buy Makeup Revolution?

A list of Irish nationwide stockists can be found on the website of the fabulous Jen and Ciara from Matte to Metallic  - www.mattetometallic.com. As they are also the Irish brand ambassadors, they have their own online store selling a range of these products too. Make sure to check out their Snapchat and Facebook pages too for lots more product demonstrations!

Outside of Ireland, the brands can be bought from Superdrug instore or online. Tam Beauty, the brains behind these brands, also have one online store stocking all of the brands together - www.tambeauty.com.
