Flawless Natural Basics Palette Review

Flawless natural basics palette review

When it comes to eyeshadows, as you are probably aware by now, I'm a creature of habit and I tend to stick with neutral and brown toned shades. So when I saw this Flawless palette in my local pharmacy a few months ago, I was keen to give it a try. I already own a set of makeup brushes from Flawless - which you can read about here - so I was already familiar with the brand and the quality of their products.

Flawless natural basics palette review

The Flawless Natural Basics Palette is a palette containing 10 eyeshadow shades, in a mixture of both mattes and shimmers, and also containing 4 highlighter shades. The eyeshadow shades are in brown tones from pale cream to dark chocolate and even a matte black and can help to create anything from a simple daytime eye to a stronger smokey eye look, and the highlighters range in shade from a pale champagne to a bronze shade. When I saw this palette, it reminded me of something that I'd seen before and it took me a while to figure out what that was! The packaging and tones of the shadows remind me of the Zoeva Naturally Yours Palette actually with the cream and brown swirly design and the brown tones of the shadows. However, the Zoeva palette doesn't contain any highlighters and I don't own the Zoeva palette so I'm not making any comparison claims here - just pointing out the similar look and feel of the product!

Below are swatches of each row of the eyeshadows and then the highlighters. Pigmentation is surprisingly good for an affordable palette and the eyeshadows are very blendable and with very little fall out which I was pleasantly surprised about.

For a daytime office look, I've been applying the lightest shade, Creme Brûlée, which is matte, all over the lid as a base and under the brow bone. Then I apply Vanilla over the lid and a mixture of Goddess and Romance in the crease. I then use a small pencil or liner brush to apply Romance to the lower lash line as a soft, subtle liner.

For a more intense look, I swap Goddess and Romance for Brown Sugar and Chocolate in the crease with Chocolate or Blackout on the lower lash line.

Flawless natural basics highlighters

Onto the highlighters, there are four shades as I mentioned. Platinum is the palest, icy toned shade with a slight pink undertone and is great for pale skin tones like mine. The second shade Champagne, is slightly warmer than Platinum but still cool enough for pale skin or cool skintones. Honey Lust is a coppery shade which I haven't used as a highlighter but as a topper over bronzer or blusher as it's a little too dark for me for highlighting as such.
I have also used this as a quick wash of colour on the eyes and it works really well, especially with blue eyes. The last highlighter shade I have only used as an eyeshadow but it is a gorgeous bronze shade called Amber Lights.

So what are my thoughts? Overall I'm really impressed with this palette and if you are looking for a multi purpose, neutral toned eye palette then I highly recommend this one. The highlighters are very pigmented too and not at all chalky or chunky. For the price of €19.95, it is exceptional value.. The palette also comes in another shade variation, the Smoky palette, which as the name suggests contains darker or more intense eyeshadow shades for a smoky eye look, along with the same shades of highlighters as the Naturals palette. (And that one is next on my wish list!)
