Primark PS Kiss Proof Liquid Matte Lipsticks

Primark Kiss Proof Liquid Lipsticks
It seems that almost every single makeup brand out there has their own version of a matte liquid lipstick now, and wherever you look there is another version of a "lip kit" popping up. To be honest, I'm getting a little jaded about the lip kit concept - I have one Kylie Cosmetics kit in surprise surprise, a nude shade. I bought a couple of the recently released kits from one of my favourite budget brands Makeup Revolution, and I was so disappointed by the texture of those that I barely use them. That being said, I do have some other single liquid lipsticks in my collection which I reach for nearly every day for convenience and staying power. So today, I thought I would share a little gem I found in Penneys - not their lip kits but their PS.. Kiss Proof Liquid Matte Lipsticks.

As the name suggests, they are liquid matte lipsticks which are said to be long lasting and "kiss proof". They claim to be ultra long-lasting with no transfer film and to contain Vitamin E to prevent dryness. I only saw these two shades in my local Penneys but from research I've done there seem to be about 5 or 6 shades in total if you are lucky enough to find them. They are priced at €4.00 each.

The lipsticks come in quite a standard clear and black tube, like a lot of liquid lipsticks nowadays, and contain 4.5ml product which is quite a decent amount for the price. One of the first things I noticed about them was the smell. You know when you're making vanilla sponge or cupcakes and you've mixed up the batter and you're about to put it in the oven? That's literally how they smell. Or like vanilla buttercream icing. It's just as well there's no cake in this house right now or I'd be all over it!

Another thing I noticed was the applicator - it's flat on both sides and not a doe-foot or rounded one like some other lip products. I wasn't sure whether this would make any difference to the application or not but in fact it doesn't. It still allows you to put on a thin enough layer and once you have a lip liner on, it fills in the lips in the same way.

The colours I picked up will be no surprise - a very cool nude called Shadow (on the left in the picture above) and a mauvey pink called Pillow Talk - the shade on the right. This is not to be confused with the iconic lipstick from Charlotte Tilbury - it's nothing like that classic nude and I don't think it was intended to be.

I have to say I've been very impressed with these. They are the first liquid lipsticks I've tried from Penneys/Primark and I know their beauty range is a hit and miss affair - I have bought a few misses myself - but they have done really well with this one. I don't go round the office kissing people so I can't comment on the kiss-proof-ness but I drink copious amounts of coffee during the working day and these lasted until lunchtime before needing a top-up.  They dry down completely on the lips without leaving the lips dry or flaking/crumbling and I barely noticed them on my lips. There was no tackiness either which is a big thing for me.  Both shades are also perfect for day time wear or to complement a dramatic eye for an evening look too so winners all round.

For reference, the liner I've found that matches the Pillow Talk shade is Rimmel's Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob. I don't have a lip liner yet that is quite cool enough to match Shadow but I've been using a light touch of the liner from my Kylie lip kit in Maliboo and it's ok but not perfect.

If you see these in your local store, I would definitely recommend trying them out. As with all matte liquid lipsticks, do make sure your lips are well moisturised first and use a lip liner to outline your lips too. If you've tried these or have any other liquid lipstick favourites - do let us know! 3. They are very pretty colours. I don't think we can get this brand in Australia so won't be something I will try. But great review and your pictures are gorgeous
