You Were There....

I don't have a new beauty post for you today. Instead I'm sharing a poem that I found that I dedicate to my dear Dad - and to anyone reading this who has lost a parent. I haven't spoken about the last few months too much on my blog or social media but it's been a tough road for my family and sadly we said goodbye to my dear Dad a month ago today following a terrible accident and a brave, brave fight afterwards. This little blog is where I share a lot of things, all of which are trivial things in comparison to this, but it didn't feel right not to post a tribute to him here. He was the bravest, strongest and kindest person I will ever know.

My Dad was one of a kind and the most loving father, husband and grandfather anyone could ask for. His family were the centre of his universe as he was ours. If I had to use one word to describe him it would be "love" , and when I found this poem I just knew it was "him".  I couldn't find the author's name anywhere unfortunately to give them the credit they deserve.

You Were There - By an unknown author.

You were there when we took our first steps,
And went unsteadily across the floor.
You pushed and prodded, encouraged and guided,
Until our steps took us out the door.

You worry now, "Are they ok?"
Is there more you could have done?
As we walk the paths of our unknown
You wonder "Where have my children gone?"

Where we are is where you have led us,
With your special love you showed us a way,
To believe in ourselves and the decisions we make,
Taking on the challenge of life day to day.

And where we go you can be sure,
In spirit you shall never be alone.
For where you are is what matters most to us,
Because to us that will always be home..

For my Dad- our special, beautiful Pops. This hole in our hearts will never be filled. You are loved more than you will ever know xx
